Stupid questions people ask you when stopped

I believe we're all used with being asked how fast is the bike and how many mpg does it get. But have you ever been asked something that simply blew your mind?

I'll start with mine. The advantage of riding in remote places of an almost non-biking country.

- "Sir, is that a real BMW or it's just the badge?" (people here are used with chinese replicas, therefore the question is almost a legitimate one; asked 3 times already, waiting for more)
- "Duuuuude, does your bike has two...

GA woods rider looking for CO/NM trail advice

Hey,
I'm a Rocky Mtn noob but hoping to travel from GA next year and spend a few months out west riding as much enduro single track as possible. About how many months a year can one ride single track trail around Pagosa Springs, CO?

I would like to then trailer south into NM along US285 and ride Carson Natl and Santa Fe Forests as well. What is that stretch down to the Las Vegas, NM area like? That entire stretch looks like a dirt bikers paradise that could offer a slightly longer...

Eastern Beaver order fulfillment issues, anyone? Africa Twin PC-8

okay, so has anyone had issues with Eastern Beaver before?

1.I ordered a PC-8 Africa Twin package on March 30
2. On March 31, I get notification from PayPal that EB got their money
3. March 31 - I get a note from EB - "your stuff has shipped"
3. April 20 - I send a note to Jim at EB - basically, "where's my stuff?"
4. April 20 - Jim responds - very busy - too busy to give you a tracking number. Tracking number is only given if the shipment is late
4. April 20 - I remind him that the...

Tell me why I shouldn’t buy this DR650…

I started with a DRZ400E, but it made my hands go numb on the highway from all the vibration. I sold that and bought a V-strom 650, which is great on the highway but it's a real handful (for me) in rough dirt. It seems like I'm bracketing a big bore thumper as my ideal bike. A mostly stock 2003 DR650 with 12,800 miles came up for sale locally for $2500. I checked it out today, and for the age it looks to be in great shape. It starts easily and runs great, the brakes and suspension all feel...

How do you trailer your Motorcycle?

View attachment 1424040 View attachment 1424039 View attachment 1424038 I just finished setting up my 5x8 v-nose trailer to haul my 2002 1150 GS to Texas then California so we can spend time with our son & daughter and get some riding in.
The trailer had no anchor points installed. My first task was to install 8 5000lb D rings to anchor the bike.
Not being totally satisfied with my anchor options I purchased 30ft of e-track and 12 e-track anchors to secure the other...

WTB Stock R1150GS Adventure Boxes

Hello all,

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place or not, couldn't really find a marketplace category. I am looking to buy a top or right hand stock box for my R1150GS Adventure. I have one that is damaged pretty bad form previous owner and would like to replace it. I am hoping someone has one sitting around they they no longer use as they have upgraded to aftermarket boxes or something.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

What’s the real benefit of the keyless ride?

Is using a key that much of a burden? I'm going pick up a new GSA here in the near future and I don't think I need the keyless ride. In fact, I don't see as it anything other than something else to potentially fail and cause me a headache.

I'd appreciate any feedback from keyless ride users or anyone else. Thanks.

Dirt Bike Winter

Think of "Corvette Summer" for us moto-geeks :ricky

@Scott_PDX and @pigpen did a good job getting me started on Winter camping and OHV trails quite a few years ago, on any bike I had running at the time. None were the weapon of choice, to say the least.

November 2017.....enter: Princess.
Princess is an old kick-start KTM 250MXC 2-stroke that runs like a scalded ape. I call her Princess because she led a rather sheltered Big Shitty life first in...

Becoming an MSF Instructor

I have an opportunity to become an MSF instructor, and most likely teach at my old college. One of my past teachers [college degree classes, not motorcycle class teacher] is the only MSF instructor at the school, and they are wanting another one to help out and eventually teach solo.

Just wondering if anyone has ever / is currently an MSF instructor and what that is like. So far what I know is that there are 3 weekends in a row that you get trained to be a trainer, then you do some sort of...

Tell Me about Colorado Springs Please

DC area sucks.

I retired from 20 years of the Navy Oct. 2017. My last duty station was the Pentagon and I thought, wow, what a great place to retire and jump right into a hot job market.

Well, yes getting a good job was easy and the money is good but when you commute 55 miles in DC/Maryland traffic (about 3-4 hours lost commuting) one way each day, the money you make doesn't seem to matter much if you don't have the time to enjoy your life.

I love my house and land but the people,...

Low Maintenance Bikes

What does the collective think is the cheapest/easiest bike to keep on the road? I´m always looking for a boring souless bike that I can run for the bare minimum of maintenance and expense. I don´t have anywhere to work on a bike, the nearest stealerships are over 40km away and I don´t have much faith in them anyway. I´m also cheap and lazy so it is a subject close to my heart.

I´m not worried about chains, with an oiler they can go for 30k miles and changing them out is a bit of a faff but...

Road handling ’08-’12 GS vs GSA, help

I have never ridden a GSA but have tried a couple of GS. I believe the GS is one of the best handling bikes out there. I can go fast on it very quickly, it is super confidence inspiring. Is the GSA as agile? Yes, I know about the 50 extra lbs but, to those of you that have ridden both, how do they compare?
Thank you in advance.
