2019 Touratech Rally West (Plain, WA)

Hello all,

I'm planning on attending my second Touratech Rally in Plain, WA. This unfortunately (or fortunately, depending...) occurs on June 27-30, which would be our Canada Day Weekend. I'm taking the Thursday and Friday off, and riding as far as my trailer in Maple Falls on Wednesday Night. Thursday, I'm going down 9 to 2 along some of the most pleasant riding roads in the world.

My schedule might be subject to some change depending on when the course I'm planning on taking is...

These are my Adventures

Did a ride to Cobar from Adelaide then along the bitumen to Broken Hill and Wentworth and along the Old Mail Rd outside of Mildura to Renmark in the Riverland to see my father with a scoot along Pipeline Rd back to Adelaide. Took me 5 days and was a precursor to a ride to Cairns and back so I could see some of the southerly tracks. Hoping some guys might be able to ride and give feedback on some of the northern tracks I have mapped out.

Anyway, hope you like the video, I'm a bit of two left...

WAAAAAAA…. forgot I was on here.

Signed up for this over a decade ago when a friend was riding around in china and neighboring lands... posted a few times and moved on.

Ride a 2010 VFR 1200 DCT, a 86 VF1100 Magna and a 84 VF1000. one much more than others but oddly now have migrated to a 911 and S2000 that are occupying more and more of my time. Something about having heat, AC and rain protection available on a moments notice I guess along with crossing the 65 age limit. Don't get me wrong, the VFR is a great...

790R or 1190R?

Just put a deposit down last week on the new 2019 Adventure 790R. Looks like a terrific bike but will be paying a grand total of $16,300 OTD ($13,499 + dealer fees + sales tax, etc..). The 790R is scheduled to arrive sometime in the next month or two. I just stumbled on a "used" 2015 Adventure 1190R with only 500 miles on it. Accessories include...

Munich motorcycle rentals.

Can someone please clarify between these two rental agencies listed below. They don't appear to be related. The Erding location looks good, but takes an hour to get to from the train station. The Munich location is handy, but the reviews (only a few) are not stellar.
Seems strange to have similar sounding names and no apparent connection. The street view is also questonable.
Basically I'd like to go with handy, unless experience with them is not favorable. Thank you for sharing any...

2019 Honda CB500X

It doesn't look like there's a thread about it and I'm surprised because it's big news!

Biggest thing: 19" wheel on the front! Yay!

Longer suspension travel in the back: + 1.2"

Amber lens on GSA aux lights

I added a pair of Denali D4 lights to my 2018 GSA. Had them on my last GS and there is NO QUESTION that they increase rider visibility substantially.

For the GSA, I’m thinking the contrast from a pair of amber lights would make the bike stand out even more to other drivers. Anyone know of an amber lens replacement option for the OEM aux lights? I’d rather keep the D4s white if possible.

2019 Sherco 20th Anniversary Limited Edition

So... Sherco is taking orders for this bike:

Special Ed comes in the usual sizes, 125, 250, 300. It's a 2019 Factory with different cosmetics. Cosmetic that mimic first model year 1999 Sherco 250.

Silver fenders, red on tank and air box, silver-ish frame that looks power coated, whereas the 1999 frame was electro plated.

Pretty much the same bike as my 2017 Factory except the `19 has a Reiger instead of Ohlins shock, and black engine covers. I think...

XR650L Too Fast for Too Long

First off, hello to everyone!
So I was running on the highway for a little piece keeping about a 70MPH pace, when the motor let go. Total loss of compression and LotSSSSSS of black smoke. I know it wasn't a good idea to ride on the interstate, but everyone makes a bad decision every now and then. Anyone got any feedback on rebuilding the XR650L. She's got 15000 miles on her, but still a great ride. I'm just trying to get a feel for what might be better, rebuild what I got, or find a whole...

looks like the wife and I will be heading down to the San Fran area in march. we are going to trailer the gs adventure and explore the area for a week! wife hasn't done a lot of two up rides yet, but is ready to give it a whirl. we are thinking of dumping the vehicle and trailer off in san fran and then heading south from there. we are definitely open to a route, we have 5 days to explore. I was thinking what is probably the usual out of town route, heading down the coast. do you have...

Randy’s Airhead Scramblerish Thingy build thread

Ok, so first a little disclaimer:

First off, this thread is going to detail the adulteration of the most "perfect" motorcycle ever devised, in the eyes of some. So, if you worship at the altar of the venerable BMW Airhead, then you can stop reading now and just move on along... spare yourself the angst of seeing it! Or, you can hang around if you like. :thumb Just please spare me the wailing and gnashing of the teeth....

R100GS – Hot FD! Ever place your hand on FD after hwy ride?

I have searched this but did not find a thread directly addressing it.

Have owned my 89 GS for about 3 years. It has about 46k miles.

Came with service records and was owned by a guy I know. An engineer with enough $ to give it whatever it needed, when it needed it by very reputable bmw mechanics/dealers ($ spent on work done totalled more than original sticker price I bet). So I did not dive into it mechanically like I might have if i got it from someone I didn't know...I just jumped...
